I have been trained as a scientist and find that the scientific process can be applied to a lot of things in life, including crafting! I have rarely followed directions in crafting to a tee because I need to alter them for whatever reason.
A lot of my process mimics the scientific process. I planned this blog to read like an academic article (with less formal writing of course) as I take you through my "experiment".
- I present any inspirations I came across (previous research)
- I begin with an idea of how to make/do/sew the project and alter it to my needs (hypothesis)
- I gather the materials I need for the project (materials)
- I explain what I am doing in my project (methods)
- I show you how it turned out (results)
- I will discuss any improvements or changes in my methodology in the future (discussion)
- And lastly, I may discuss any further ideas I might have concerning the project (further research)
Enjoy!
