About This Blog

In this blog, I am taking quite a different approach to crafting.

I have been trained as a scientist and find that the scientific process can be applied to a lot of things in life, including crafting! I have rarely followed directions in crafting to a tee because I need to alter them for whatever reason.

A lot of my process mimics the scientific process. I planned this blog to read like an academic article (with less formal writing of course) as I take you through my "experiment".

  • I present any inspirations I came across (previous research)
  • I begin with an idea of how to make/do/sew the project and alter it to my needs (hypothesis)
  • I gather the materials I need for the project (materials)
  • I explain what I am doing in my project (methods)
  • I show you how it turned out (results)
  • I will discuss any improvements or changes in my methodology in the future (discussion)
  • And lastly, I may discuss any further ideas I might have concerning the project (further research)
I want to encourage anyone and everyone to use the comments to refine my methods, suggest new ideas, or discuss how this inspired their own projects. As it is in academia, feedback is always welcome!

Enjoy!
